Digital land services are available even without NID
In order to provide digital land services properly, the Ministry of Land has taken steps to verify the authenticity of the application of the actual land service recipient online and to provide digital land services to the citizens without a National Identity Card (NID).
To this end, the Ministry of Land signed an agreement on the exchange of birth and death data with the 'Registrar General's Office, Registration of Births and Deaths' under the Local Government Department in the conference room of the Ministry at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Apart from the national identity card data, birth and death registration data will also be used in land service management from now on.
Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Land Pradeep Kumar Das and Registrar General, Birth and Death Registration Manik Lal Banik signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at a function presided over by Land Secretary Md Mostafizur Rahman.
Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, who was present as the chief guest on the occasion, said that the use of national identity cards as well as birth and death registration data in the land service system will enable the citizens of the country without NID to avail land service. For various reasons, many citizens of the country may not have a national identity card, so we have taken this measure.
The Minister further said that in the same way, for the citizens of Bangladesh living abroad, land service will be provided only through passport verification. All citizens of the country will be included in the digital land service.
The Land Secretary said that all measures have been taken to ensure the security and confidentiality of the information of the citizens with utmost importance.
Additional Secretary Local Government Mustakim Billah Farooqui, Registrar General Manik Lal Banik and Additional Secretary Land Ministry Pradeep Kumar Das, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The signing ceremony was attended by, Additional Secretary (Law) of the Ministry of Land Muhammad Salehuddin and other officials of the Ministry of Land and the Office of the Registrar General of Birth and Death Registration.
It can be noted that the Registration of Births and Deaths interconnects with the e-namzari system to verify a citizen's inheritance and other credentials through the application programming interface-API (system of exchanging information between two different platforms) from the system prottoyon.gov.bd of the Registrar General's Office. This will enable the Ministry of Land to verify the accuracy of the applicant's information in case of any land service.
